Seriously, it all depends on the total amount of sleep your kid gets in one day.  Ferber says that toddlers your sons age should get roughly 12 hours total.  Some do more and some do less.  Unless you kid is sleeping ony eight hours per night, it sounds like you have one easy kid when it comes to sleeping.
