Yesterday I shared a wonderful recipe for healthy breakfast cookies. Yes, cookies. Complete with spinach, blueberries and almonds. I know, it sounds a little weird, but they are oddly tasty. Hop on over to take a look.

Well, I love baking, and I’m doing my best to get the kiddo involved in it too. He’s a little young to do most of the mixing and measuring, but he sure loves to dump ingredients into bowls. And sometimes the flour. Or all over the stove top. But anyway, he loves to help (which I’m told will change as he gets older, so I’m taking full advantage of it while I can). As you can imagine, I was all over a new line of children’s cooking utensils, designed just for small hands, by Curious Chef. And as luck would have it, the let the kiddo try out the 6 piece measuring cups.

I honestly can’t say enough positive things about these measuring cups! The set includes 6 color coordinated cups that measure from 1 cup all the way down to 1/8 cup, including sizes like 3/4 cup and 2/3 cups. Sizes that aren’t included in most adult measuring cups sets! The handles of each cup have a brightly colored rubber grip, which not only helps little hands hold on to the cup, but also gives a quick visual cue as to what size they are using. So if your kiddo is learning colors, you can ask them to bring the blue colored cup. What a great way to reinforce learning.

The shape of the measuring cups is also unique, not just the same old round-shaped cups. These cups are long ovals, which makes them fun and different for kids (also good for teaching shapes), but the shape also seems to make pouring ingredients easier. If they actually dump the ingredients into the bowl that is.

Best of all, the kiddo has his very own set of measuring cups (yes, it’s true that I may borrow from them). I can’t describe the look on his face when he gets to help. Plus, he loves to bang those cups together, while sending clouds of flour through the air!
