A rare sunny winter day. The soft and gentle sound of snow drip, drip, dripping off the roof. Just me and the kiddo, curled up under some warm and fuzzy blankets. No agenda. No to-do list. No place to be. Just the two of us, a pile of books. Sitting all snuggled together, slowly rocking “back and forth, back and forth, back and forth” while reading Love You Forever. And of course the soft snoring of two little pugs.
I put the question out to my Facebook fans, asking for their favorite ways to bond with their kiddos. Here’s what they said.
Christine over at Lite Mocha Mom said “My favourite bonding time is baking together. He’s just so into it, and eager to try every step.”
Dee at Two of a Kind has “the most fun playing with play dough or reading a book!
”
Kristin thinks that “one of the best ways [to bond] is during quiet time. Whether it be reading a book, sitting down and singing Itsy Bitsy Spider or Wheels on the Bus or simply just playing silly games. That is always great. However, one of my most favorite with my daughter is dancing. She loves to dance! We turn on some tunes and she has me hold her while we dance away. So fun!”
Darcey and her family love to get moving. “When we’re watching a DVD, at the end during the credits when they play the music…we all dance wildly together until all the songs are done. Tons of smiles and fun…and gets the blood going after sitting for a while.
”
That was our moment. The best moment I had all week. My Finer Thing.

That sounds like such a peaceful moment. I love snuggling together with The Munchkin and knowing there’s nothing else to worry about for the moment. Something about that cuddle makes everything stressful disappear for the time being.

My youngest son and I love to cook together. As my kids get older I find myself having to engage in their activities and interests to be able to spend time with them.
