Why is it that the simplest presents, the most unexpected items, are always the best gifts for kids? The box that the new Radio Flyer Wagon came in. The bubble wrap from the latest deliver. Sigh. I should just give up now, save the money and stock up on different sized boxes for the kiddo’s next birthday.
At least this year, his fave gift was birthday related. He ran around like this for at least 20 minutes. Seriously. He would have done it longer, but brunch was calling our names.

He was squealing with delight…

There’s just something about the joy kids find in the simplest things…

I wish I could bottle this feeling and pull it out whenever I needed a lift…

Even Elmo was thrown (literally) into the birthday spirit.
Disclaimer: I would of course never allow the kiddo to run and play with balloons by himself. Can you say choking hazard? He was supervised at all times.

What big, vibrant balloons and what fun pictures! Looks like he had tons of fun!!

My kids love balloons, too. Right up to when they accidentally pop them, give me a heart attack, and lead to hunting balloon pieces all over the floor.
But I still get them, because it is fun to watch them play before the popping.

@Charlotte, Surprisingly none of the balloons have popped yet. I’m sure there will be tears when they do (and me scrambling to pick up the pieces).
Love, love the photos! Felt his enthusiasm just looking at them.
Balloons are of course a delight in our house. I’m taking a page from that book though…we’ve simplified gifts. For the youngest, we just bought books this year. Easier for us, he’s happy with them and I don’t have to feel like it was too much.

@Christine LaRocque, That’s been our philosophy too. We let the Grandparents spoil him, while we give one or two smaller gifts. Easier on the budget too.
What fabulous pictures! My little girl is turning 2 next month — we’ll be sure to have lots of balloons for her, too.
Balloons truly are fun and you captured his joy well. Another big hit at our house in the keep it simple department… empty cardboard boxes!!

@LifeAtTheCircus, Those are a big hit here too. Too bad that most of them are being used for packing right now. We keep one or two out for him to climb in though.
I love the motion that you’ve captured in these shots — it really gives them life!
Oh so adorable! My boys LOVE balloons!
Oh the little things that delight our children.
I love the photos of such fun!

He look so thrilled! I love the way kids can just let go and be happy with simple things. The world would be a better place if we all did that a little more I think.
So glad you participated in PSF this week!!
