SeaPak Tilapia Review and Giveaway

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on March 31, 2010

It’s birthday week at the Alli ‘n Son household. The kiddo is turning 2 years old (yes, the terrible twos are in full swing). To celebrate, we’re doing a week of giveaways.

A while back, I was contacted to review a product by SeaPak, which produces frozen fish and seafood. I love seafood, especially shrimp and scallops, and being from Wisconsin, can’t pass up a good fish, especially on a Friday (fish fry anyone?). I gladly accepted and set out to pick out the dish to try.

After staring at the selection in the freezer section at the grocery store for about 5 minutes, I finally made a decision. There was a LOT to pick from. I settled on the Parmesan Encrusted Tilapia. I must have been in a fishy mood, since I passed up all of the shrimp options. But the “crust” on the tilapia sounded delish and it came with a marinara dipping sauce which sounded too good to pass up.

One busy night, when there just wasn’t time, and I didn’t have the energy to prepare a meal from scratch, we decided to throw the fish in. 24 minutes later, our dinner was ready. No mess. No fuss.

Now, I’m usually a little skeptical about eating frozen entrees. They often just don’t have the same flavor as when you make it from scratch. Especially fish and seafood, which tends to lose some of the fish flavor. Well, not fishy flavor, gross. But the flavor that makes it, well, taste like fish. You known what I mean, right? Dad-oo and I were pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. The meal was light, flavorful, and even tasted like fish. Honestly, it was a nice surprise.

Did you know that fish is super healthy for you? In fact, according to SeaPak’s Smarter Seafood page on their web site, you should be eating it twice a week, it’s super food after all. Not only you, but your kids too. You can read more about why in the Kids and Seafood article.

We get the Sea-Pak Shrimp a lot, so I thought I would like to try The Maryland Crab Cakes. Then I sawa the new Sea-Pak Tilapia Tenders.

Happy Birthday! I am so sorry you are just getting the warm-up to the Terrible Two’s. My grandson is 2.5 years and while they have not been as frequent, the tantrums are lasting longer now.
