As you know, this week the kiddo turned 2. Much to my surprise, since it really seems like was born yesterday. Man, does time go fast. It’s unbelievable.
Of course, with birthdays, comes parties. Multiple parties when you have family scattered all across the state. And with parties, comes cake. Ice cream. Chocolate sauce. Carmel sauce. A gimantic piece of ooey-gooey brownie. And to top if all off, the now-traditional Pancake-cake. OK, not all at the same time, but spread over the course of a day. But still, that’s a lot of sugar for one kiddo to ingest in a single day. I’m not even going to think about what he ate last weekend, or what is coming this weekend with the final celebration and Easter.
Anyway, the point of my rambling (yes, there is a point) is that after one particularly sugar-infused lunch with Grams (the previously mentioned ooey-gooey brownie, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce and ice cream) I was sure that I was in store for a no-napping, sugar charged afternoon. Or at the very least, an overly sleepy, sugar-crashed, crabby-pants toddler. But to my utter surprise, he fell asleep on the way home, slept for a good 2 hours, and was as pleasant as can be expected of a toddler for the rest of the day.
He was so good, in fact, that we decided to give him these kick-ass shoes for this birthday.

Yes, all three balls light up (I couldn’t capture it on camera). But of course they are now the wrong size, since the kiddo just went through a growth spurt. And I lost the receipt. Here’s hoping that Carter’s will exchange them for me anyway.
