Let's Talk About…

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on May 16, 2010

If you are a child from the 90s, you know where I’m going with this. Sex. Yes, sex. *blush*

So, if you are one of my parents, in-laws or other family member you might  want to just pass on by.

OK, anyone left? Let’s move on.

Today’s topic over at Momalom is Lust. A beautiful, soft, sensual word, often turned dirty, negative and well, just plain icky.

So against my better judgment, and against my personal embarrassment scale, I’m going to dive in and join the conversation.

After love making

It’s a catch in your throat…

A whisper running down your spine…

A caress lingering on your back…

A bottle of silky red wine…

A looking begging, pleading, wanting…

A barely audible sigh breaking a silent room…

Soft, kisses, exploring, discovering, enjoying…

A heart beat galloping away…

Holding…

Grabbing…

!!!…

Falling into one another…

In love…

In beauty…

In commitment.

Lust is wanting, desiring, needing, trusting out of pure love. Or at least, that’s what lust means to me.

Oh, and don’t forget that the Thank You Journal is coming up again this Thursday. What are you thankful for this week?

So glad you went against better judgement and braved the embarrassment. I, too, believe lust and love belong in the same sentence.

ok. I applaud you for writing about lust. Really writing about lust. Everyone else seems to be dancing around it.

You wrote about in a perfect poem. Beautiful and not sleazy.

Perfect Post

@Terry, Thanks! Lust should be beautiful, not sleazy. At least that’s what I think.

You are much braver than I. I had to stretch today’s post so I wouldn’t embarrass myself. Not that this is embarrassing, in any way. It’s actually rather tender and sweet.

You really stayed true to the subject matter. I wasn’t brave enough to venture there, especially since my whole family reads my blog. Loved it and how you circled around to love at the end!

@Rudri, I know, my family reads mine too. Hence the warning at the beginning. Not that it really will stop anyone from reading it though…

Beautiful. What I like about this poem is that I found myself nodding in agreement, and yet, when I sat down to write my own post on lust (which I still haven’t written it) my original inclination was to define it as the opposite of love, whereas you’ve tied it to love. I like the way you see it. Makes it so much less icky! Glad you found me so i could find you!!

@Lauren @ Embrace the detour, Actually, when I first sat down to write, I was going to do the same thing. Focus on the negative icky side. Some where this post was hidden and it just kind of happened.

Thank you for diving right in! And I love your definition of lust. Without pure love, lust consumes us and leaves nothing but ashes in its wake. Lust out of pure love feeds us, builds up us and our relationship, bonding us, making us stronger.
