So we’re 4 weeks in, and if I do say so myself, I’ve been doing pretty well in the Budget Boot Camp challenges. But I think they are starting to get harder. Or they will be, beginning next week with organizing coupons. Which I need to do. Badly. Maybe I’ll even share a before and after pic.
But I’m getting a little ahead of myself. This week’s challenge was coupons. Not necessarily using them, but finding them.
I didn’t get serious about couponing until the last few weeks. I’ve always had blogs that I’ve followed for freebies and good deals, but I would always just skim through them, looking for the best deals.
OK, I still do that. But now I’m looking a little closer. Because those freebies and great deals are saving me money. And I like that.
So here are my top 10 places for coupons and freebies.
- Mummy Deals and In Good Cents (of course!)
- Freebies for Mom
- $5 Dollar Dinners (coupons and amazing, inexpensive recipes)
- The Mother Load (Freebie Friday)
- Totally Target (which actually just makes me want to go to Target and shop)
- Minnesota Coupon Adventure (for more local deals and freebies)
- Target (because they have Target coupons, which are stackable. Which is awesome!)
- Coupons.com
- RedPlum.com
- SmartSource.com
I also use Google to find coupons. Sometimes a products web site will have a coupon. Or there may be another source hidden out there that I didn’t know about.
And did you know that most times you can print a coupon more than once? Just hit the back button. 2, 3 sometimes 4 times.
I also buy the local newspaper on Sundays. I don’t subscribe because there’s isn’t a subscription available for Sunday only, so it’s more cost effective for me to just buy the paper every week. Plus, if I know in advance that there is only going to be one insert, I will sometimes skip that issue.
Phew. Those are my sources for some fantastic coupons. What are your favorite blogs for deals, freebies and coupons?
P.S. I spent almost $70 in groceries. Toilet paper, make-up and sunscreen are to be blamed. Boo. Hoping to stay around the $50 mark. I promise to do better next week.

*sigh* I want to be a couponer…
@oh amanda, I’m learning that it doesn’t take as much time as you would thank. Otherwise I would have given it up already.
i also love bargainbriana.com and dealseekingmom.com. i keep all my coupon inserts in sleeve protectors in a large binder (a different sleeve for each week). that way, i can easily look up the coupons i need, using the “coupon database” on most frugal websites.
@robin, I haven’t heard of dealseekingmom.com, I’ll have to check her out.
check out http://www.afullcup.com/ – they have a great coupon database!
@Ashley, Oh yes! I forgot about that one.
Checking out the Red Plum site now. They stopped sending Red Plum in my Sunday paper BOO!
@Brandie, Really? I wonder why. I think the web site has more coupons than the insert anyway.
Wow, what a great resource. I, unfortunately, have no sites to add … but I’m totally stealing these! =>
@Stacia, Yay! I’m glad I could help.
Thanks for the resources. I’ve been learning so much from you, and I had no idea about the coupon sites you listed! Way to go ALlison!
@angie, Thanks Angie! I’m always so thrilled when you stop by.
HONORED to have made the list. What a great resource you are!! I really appreciate it, Alli!!
@Amy, I’m honored that you stopped by! I love seeing your name pop up. And you are really a fantastic resource. And blogger.
Do you like couponing? I won’t lie….it confuses me…
@Muthering Heights, Not sure yet, I’m still in the beginning stages. If I find that it saves me a ton of money, but doesn’t eat up all of my time, I’m all for it. But if it starts taking too much effort, but isn’t saving much, then I’ll probably stop.
I go back and forth with the coupons. Sometimes I am all in, printing and clipping; but then I feel like it makes me buy stuff that isn’t as healthy or that I wouldn’t otherwise buy because it’s a good deal. Do you run into that?
@Jen @ BigBinder, Yes, that happens to me too. When I’m clipping coupons I try to only clip the ones that are for things we NEED. Not just something that sounds good. Yet somehow, those still sneak their way into my pile.
