Praise to my Hair Stylist

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on August 11, 2010

I have this problem. Thick, lush hair.

I know, some problem huh?

But really, it’s so thick that if I go any longer than 6 weeks without a haircut, I get a mushroom head. It’s bad, really, REALLY bad.

Thankfully I have this amazing stylist, Marie. I’ve been going to her for years. From when she first started to when she took over the business earlier this year. Meet Verve Salon and Spa.

Marie is fun, on top of the latest trends, and most importantly, she’s great at what she does. And she does it with passion.

She’s so good that I can just go in, say “do something sassy”, and this is what I get.

Sassy, right?

Recently Verve has started selling their very own line of products, in addition to fantastic brands like Redkin and Pureology. And Marie let me try them, so that I could share them all with you. Wahoo! Here’s a quick run down.

Abstract – Thickening and Dimensional Spray

A revolutionary product designed to produce thicker, fuller, texturized hair. A simple spray will provide as many styling options as your imagination can explore. {Translation: I can make my hair do funky, sassy punk-rock things.}

Glint – Laminating Gel

A combination of herbal complexes that polishes the hair for a brilliant shine while sealing frayed and frizzy ends. {Translation: my hair is super shiny with a touch of glitter. It looks fresh and healthy.}

Nectar – Transformative Redefining Serum

Loaded with performance extracts, this serum redefines any texture hair. Curly hair becomes smooth or natural looking, while straight hair becomes brilliant, sleek, and full of shine. {Translation: my hair no longer puffs up to twice it’s size on humid days. Instead it’s all soft and silky.}

Treat – Lime blossom, bergamot & ginger lotion

Contains Vitamins A & E which soothe, protect, and heal dry hands and skin. Aloe acts as an anti-irritant, while Glycerin holds in moisture. {Translation: even with countless times washing my hands throughout the day, they are still baby-butt soft.}

I have to admit that I haven’t been much of a salon product buyer in the past. The price tag, it gets to me every time. But…but, I love these products. And I actually use LESS of the product than I would of products I buy at, say, Target. So yes, I’m hooked.

If you are a local reader, I demand encourage you to schedule an appointment with Verve Salon and Spa. Hair, make-up, massages and spa, and tattoos (yes, tattoos). All of the staff is highly trained and excellent. But please don’t schedule an appointment with Marie, she’s mine. ;-)

If you aren’t local, there’s good news. You can still order their products online. They ship anywhere in the US and prices include shipping. Woot!

CUTE! Mine would never look like that! It’s awesome that you have someone you can trust.

My girl messed my hair up big time last year! I found someone to fix it and love her now!

A stylist you trust is key isn’t it? There are very few people that I would allow to touch my hair.

Very sassy. My hair would never do that. It’s thick and naturally curly and never does anything except frizz.

Now, that’s sassy!!!!
My hair is lean & long as you put it. But most time? Boring & in a knot, out of the way ’cause that’s how I roll :)

Easy, that’s what it’s all about. And I bet it’s not boring at all.

Hey Allison! Came your way via the Crayon Wrangler! (Isn’t she a hoot?!)

Your hair cut is so cute! Could you please send Marie to me? I’m in desperate need of a stylist. My up and decided to be a stay at home mom. Gah. The nerve. ;)

Hey Mama M. thanks for stopping by!

There’s no way I’m lending out Marie. I wonder if your stylist would still do your hair. Hmmm…or maybe she could recommend someone {almost} as awesome as she was.

I rocked short hair for a long time but now I’ve grown it out and its almost brushing my collar bones! Its the longest its been in 10 years! I love your cut! SUPER cute!

That’s the fun thing about hair, changing it up all the time. I’ve gone from mid-back length to super short (even shorter than in the pic above!). I usually grow it out every few years, then slowly start to chop it off again. That way you get to enjoy all of the styles in between.

Hello?! How cute and sassy is your hair?! Seriously. I also have the lush, thick hair that will someday be the death of me. And I have NOT found a stylist or product to manage it. *big heavy sigh*

Thick, lush hair is a blessing and a curse isn’t it?
