Some how, out of no where, an entire year of my life has passed, in what seems like only a few days time.
How exactly do I know that it’s been a full year?
It’s my first bloggy anniversary today. {Well, actually Tuesday the 17th, in case you are reading this on Monday night. Because I like to post the night before. So sue me.}
Oh yes, I’ve been at the blogging thing for a full year now. Hold me.
I know that a lot of my readers are newish, so I thought, hey, why not do a year in review post. And so, that’s what I’m doing.
First off, I HAVE A NEW BLOG DESIGN! So if you are reading this in a reader, swing by and check out my new digs.
The new design is brought to you by…ME! Did you know that I’m a graphic designer? Or I was once-upon-a-time before I became a stay-at-home mom.
Which is a nice segue into what I’ve been up to over this last year.
Defining Moments
When I first started blogging, I was a working momma {I know, can you believe it?} filled with tremendous guilt. So much so that it ate me alive, and eventually, 18 long months after the kiddo was born, led to an exciting announcement: I was quitting my job of almost 8 years.
Talk about life changing. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, as a stay-at-home mom, but I quickly learned one thing: it’s freaking exhausting. Especially when I’m solo parenting it while hubby is off relaxing and lounging by the pool traveling for work, and I just want to fast forward to get through.
Soul Searching Moments
One of the biggest surprises of becoming a stay-at-home mom was losing myself. That piece of me I identified with working and being an adult. Poof, gone the first day I stayed at home. With some decluttering and organizing, I’m doing my best to stay focused on what works best for me and the family. And keeps me the most sane. Which is kind of important, I’ve discovered. I’ve had some time alone to reflect and some time to dive deep into an identity crisis.
Thank goodness I’ve discovered that I’m in exactly the right place, in this time in my life.
Moments of Heart Ache and Infertility
I finally gave myself permission to share my infertility story. It’s an on going struggle, but one that has answers. Sadly, I’m not on my way to baby number two. Yet. I’m still looking for the solution to my struggles, but it has a name, and that’s half the battle. Or at least part of the battle.
Moments that Fill the Soul
One of the things that I try my hardest to hold onto, even when everything around me is telling me to give up, is hope. Sometimes what I hope for isn’t what comes to be, but in the end, it’s always what should be. Even if it isn’t in my plan. I’m trying to enjoy the journey, strolling through life, hand-in-hand with the kiddo and Dad-oo. Taking on the hardest challenges and the biggest climbs with determination and strength.
Moments that Fuel the Body
What’s a year in review if we don’t talk about food? With all of the moments piling together, we need something to fuel us through. Thick, chewy, cheesy pizza for starters, which is a staple at our house. Friday night just wouldn’t be the same without it. And to celebrate, I think everyone should indulge in cake ball (or 5). It’s only once a year, it’s okay to obey your inner sweet tooth. While you are at it, enjoy a glass of some good, old fashioned, homemade Irish Cream. It’s a party after all.
Moments with You
Of course I’m not forgetting to mention every that I’ve met, formed friendships and bonds with over the last year. I seriously had no idea that blogging and tweeting would create friend ships with people I’ve never met (but will someday). But it has and I’m amazed and grateful for oh so many people. Yes, I know, this is so over the top and sappy. But it’s my anniversary, and I can do what I want. So there.
And since you are here, don’t forget to grab…

You’re honesty is not lost on me. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Ann! I’m glad you stopped by. I hope to see you again soon.
I think you captured well many aspects of SAHM-hood. I love your design.
Thanks Betsy!
Wow congratulations…how exciting!! Keep up the great work
Wow, you’ve accomplished a ton of blogging in one year–congratulations! (I’ve had my blog for like 3 years and I’m still just getting my feet wet!) Great list, makes me want to read more!
I have to admit, I’m kind of addicted to blogging. Makes it easy to blog so much. I’m glad you stopped by!
The first thing I did when I clicked over is scrolled down to see who designed your new blog—I LOVE IT! And it’s PURPLE!
Beautiful anniversary post! Happy BLOGIVERSARY to you!

Thanks Amanda! I should have known that you like purple, your blog is showing it off too.
Love the new design! Happy Blogiversary!
Thank you C!
Congratulations girl! I’ve said it before, but you’ve done so much and so well with your blog in just a year. I remember being so surprised you were a “newbie” b/c you seemed like a pro! Eat some cake & enjoy;)
Thanks Mandi. I kind of figured it I’m going to do this blogging thing, I’m going to give it my all. It’s been such a wonderful experience so far!
Love the new design. It’s gorgeous! And a fitting way to celebrate your anniversary! I’m glad you started blogging…you’re one of my favorites!
Awww…you’re making my blush. Right back at ya, Amber!
Happy Blogiversary! I can’t believe – ok, maybe I can – you designed all of this by yourself. You can actually create something that’s completely and uniquely you, and this is definitely it. Great job, mama! Yes, sometimes we tend to forget our lives pre-baby or outside of baby. Glad you’re continuing to pursue your passions, designing and writing and cooking, while you’re busy with your little guy.
Congrats on a great first year!
Thanks Justine! It was a challenge to get everything to work together, and a lot of learning CSS and the new template. But I’m so happy that I did.
Great job Allison!
I love the new design and I think the year in review concept is very smart — what a neat way to go back and allow your new readers to catch up.
My path might be similar to yours, so I will have to do a lot of reading to see how you got “here”.
Mommy guilt is with me everday I go to work. I hope it eases up!
I hope you enjoy looking over the old posts. And I really hope that you find some peace in being a working mom, or that you find a way to stay at home. Whatever works best for you, that’s the most important thing.
Happy, happy anniversary!! I’m SO glad I found you. Or you found me. Whatever.
Also – LOVE the new design. Super cute!
I love when I’ve been following a blog for so long, that I can’t even remember how I first found it. It’s like long lost friends.
Happy Anniversary!! Your blog is wonderful. So many times I read it and think to myself that I am not alone in my stay at home mom thoughts and feelings. With your recipes, thank you journal etc….it is so cool. I always wish I would write more…you give me inspiration!
Awww, thank you. If you ever want help getting started with blogging, you know who to go to.
Very sweet and lovely post, Alli!! You know I am with you in a lot of these things. I will keep your fertility battle in my prayers.
The new design is great! I <3 purple.
Jessie
Thanks Jessie, that means a lot to me. I’ll be updating with the latest in the next couple of weeks.
Happy blogiversary!! Love the new design. You did a great job with it. I feel your pain with the fertility thing. After 2 years of TTC and a miscarriage we’re finally pregnant with our third. Although, we never found out what was keeping us from conceiving. Anyway, glad to know you and your blog!
Thanks Melissa. Infertility is hard no matter what. I’m glad that you are on your way to baby #3!
Happy Blogaversary (or however you’d spell that, lol)! My, you have accomplished so much in one year, and what an awesome post to commemorate it. I can’t wait to see what this next year holds for you — you know I’ll be reading!
And, I love your new design — very cute and sassy.
Thank you!
Love the new design!! Loved reading the year in review…it’s crazy how much can change in such a relatively short time. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next year!!
I know, I still can’t believe that I’ve gone from a working mom to a stay at home mom. It’s gone so fast and seems like it’s always been this way.
Thanks for stopping by!
Love your blog design! So jealous that you are talented enough to do it on your own. Love this year in review and am going to totally steal it when I have my anniversary in March. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Very excited to see what the next year holds for you.
Oh yes, steal it! Actually, I can’t even say that it was an original idea. But it is still a great one.
LOVE the new design
Congratulations on ONE YEAR!! That’s fantastic! So glad to know you in this blogging world
Thanks Corinne. I’m so glad to know you too! I’m so amazed by the wonderful connections blogging has brought to my life.
Happy happy bloggy bday and beautiful new design!!

I’m fairly new to your site, but I’m so excited for you I’ll sing you a song! And, I’m known to be sappy too.
Happy ‘Versary to you! Happy ‘Versary to you! Happy ‘Versary dear Allison, Happy ‘Versary to you!!!
I have a ways to go til my 1 year ‘Versary, but I know it will be here before I know it. And, it will get here one day at a time. haha
