Please welcome today’s Thank You Journal Guest Blogger, Corinne. She is a wife of one, mother of two, and the official resident tea drinker of her home. She dabbles in writing and photography in between diaper changes and playdates. You can find Corinne writing about her daily joys and struggles at Trains, Tutus & Tea Time.
Earlier this week clouds filled the sky, heavy with water and a high soaking potential. For the first time in weeks, it seemed, we had a dreary day.
The kids and I did our errands in the morning. We flew from medical appointment to post office to grocery store. Hurrying and hiding from the droplets accumulating now and then on the roof of the car. We tempted fate as there wasn’t a raincoat or an umbrella in sight.
The clouds threatened, but we were never drenched.
That afternoon we built forts and had adventures that only a newly minted two year old and a three and a half year old’s imaginations could conjure. I modeled my flannel pajama pants by 3pm, and coddled a hot chai latte in my hands like it was a fragile sand dollar. I held not an ounce of guilt from missing out on a summer day by spending it inside, cuddled together.
Gifts and treasures that left me breathless with gratitude, given by a sky flooded with clouds leaking rain drops and togetherness.

beautiful, corinne… as always. sometiems a gray day is just what the dr ordered… guilt free play day!
That sounds like a wonderful afternoon!
I’m always so thankful for downpours and the opportunities they bring to hunker down and snuggle my babies close (and my 60-pound dog, who is afraid of storms and always needs a few extra hugs). =>
A fabulous gift found hiding in the rain clouds. I adore this post, Corinne.
Good to see you here, Corinne! That sounds like a great day. Just being cozy and relaxing together. Very sweet.
Rain definitely means snuggling under blankies for us. Oh and deep, quiet slumber for everyone at home.
Corinne – great to see you here. I love your last line: “…given by a sky flooded with clouds leaking rain drops and togetherness.” Words like these are the reason I follow you everywhere!
There is NOTHING I love more than a rainy afternoon, hot coffee and cozy jammies. Always what the doctor ordered.
I model pjs a lot.
What a lovely overcast day to be grateful.
