It’s no secret that I love my iPhone and the many Apps I’ve discovered since this magical phone fell into my hands.
In fact, I may have even admitted that it never leaves my side during the day. Or the night for that matter, since it sleeps next to me, on my bedside table.
What? It’s my alarm clock. Don’t look at me that way!
Anyway…
I was recently given the opportunity to review a new kid-friendly App, by one of the most loved creator’s of all things kids: Baby Einstein. Can I just tell you how many toys, movies and CDs we have in the house by Baby Einstein? No, actually, I can’t. There are too many to count. So of course I was thrilled to review the My Baby Einstein App.
The first time I used it was on a long drive home, after the Kiddo woke up him an uncomfortable nap {who can nap with their head bent over in that angle anyway?}. We still had an hour to go and I needed something to distract and entertain him. Tada! The My Baby Einstein app has videos built right into it. Six videos to be exact{with more available for purchase}, each about 3 minutes long. Short enough to hold the Kiddo’s attention, but not long enough to turn him into a video-watching zombie. The videos saved us from the after-nap grumpies. And a screaming toddler for the rest of the ride home.
But it doesn’t stop there. Or no. The My Baby Einstein app includes other games that kids interact with, and learn from. Like the Discovery Cards, which starts with a color {blue} and then objects that match this color {blueberries, blue jeans, etc}.The Discovery Cards show a pic of the color or item, the word underneath and also speaks it. Plus, you can touch Facts icon for more info about the color or item.
For a more personal game, you can create your own Discovery Cards, using photos from your phone. What a fun activity to do with your kids. Take an afternoon to walk around the neighborhood, photographing different items to include. Then go back and fill in the info together. You can ever record audio about the objects.
There’s also a Memory Book that you create with photos from your phone. How fun would it be to spend a day at the Zoo, taking photos, and then create a book dedicated to that day with your kid? Let them pick out the photos to include, the colors and the captions. It’s kind of like toddler’s-first scrapbooking.
Last but not least, there’s music. The kind that soothes a baby or toddler’s ears. And a momma’s too, since it usually stops the cries, pleas and whines.

I would love this for my daughter
I have a 10 month old who loves my iphone, as well as a 4 and 8 year old who constantly ask to play games
I will use the app with my daughter — she uses my ipod touch more than I do : )
All C wants in the world is to get his hands on my iPod. If you give him the excuse to do it, he will love you forever!
Not me, to. I’ll still be boring old mama to him.
Oooh I want this for my daughter! She is a crazy person for my iPod. I only get to use it at work or while I’m running.
I’d use this for my daughter. She loves hubby’s ipad.
