365 Days – Month One

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on October 2, 2010

Somehow 30 days have passed. The season changed. Kids have grown. Pics were taken.

How many pics? I have NO idea. However I do know that I’ve uploaded 100+ to my 365 Days Flickr stream.

And those are just the good ones {and not even all of them since I’ve fallen behind on editing}.

_MG_1332

I’m so proud of the work I’ve done so far. Most days it has been a breeze snapping away.

_MG_1408

There has only been one day where I put off taking any pics until…ummm…11:30 p.m.

_MG_1259

I’ve learned the manual mode on my camera and use is exclusively now.

_MG_1174

I’ve learned that it can be difficult to capture the moment while adjust shutter speed, aperture and film speed.

Toddler’s don’t hold still for long, yo.

I’ve discovered that I like to slightly overexpose my photos. More light is a happy thing.

I’m figuring out how to use the flash in manual mode as well. But it will take some practice.

I’ve also fallen in love with Photoshop Actions, especially those from The Coffeeshop Blog {free actions and tutorials}.

Most importantly, I’m loving it.

This is just a small selection of the pics I’ve taken and shared. Hop on over to my Flickr page to browse through all 10o+.

And while you are at it, stop by Madeline Bea’s place and check out what the other 365 day bloggers are up to.

I have to say I love the toothbrush photo as well as the marching band. What kind of camera do you use?

4 Allison October 5, 2010 at 8:11 pm

I have a Canon Rebel. It’s a few years old, but still works well. I’m saving up for a newer one though.

I’m so inspired by your decision to overexpose a little. I think I might need to try it. Your photos are beautiful and I’m looking forward to seeing where the rest of the year takes you.

Thank you Micheline! I’m glad I could inspire you to try something new.

Love these! Between the corn and the marching band, it looks like you’re picturing fall.

8 Allison October 5, 2010 at 8:13 pm

Yup, fall is here. Full blast. I’m loving every second of it.

I’ve hopped over from Maegan’s blog on my tour of others taking part in the 365 days project. I love your photos and totally identify with the love for more light:)

This is why the 365 day project (and all other photo projects too, to be honest) are awesome. They make you work for it! Make you learn! Help you figure out your style.

Good luck! And keep it up!

Thanks Kathy. I’m still trying to find my style, but I’m getting closer.

Kids +stand mixer=yummy baked goodies. It also translates to smiles, impatience and my favorite shot. though they are all wonderful.

14 Allison October 5, 2010 at 8:19 pm

It also translates to flour every where. EVERY WHERE!
