If I was a Super Hero

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on October 6, 2010

If I was a super hero, what power would I have?

The ability to freeze time, just for 24 hours. Yea, that sounds about right.

Why on earth would I pick this you may be wondering. Why not the ability to read minds? Sure it would be nice to know what the kiddo wants as he lays in a puddle kicking, screaming goo on the floor. But seriously, I don’t want to know what everyone is thinking. Especially my neighbors. Who knows what’s going on in their heads. {shudder}

No, my power would be to freeze time for 24 hours. And this is what I would do.

I would spend some time with a handful of friends.

Fave Reads

I would get lost. And find myself again.

Corn Maze

I would indulge. Then over indulge. And indulge again. Did I mention that in these 24 hours calories don’t count?

Chocolatey goodness

I would bend and stretch. Lengthen and center.

Yoga mat

I would think BIG thoughts and wonder what it all means.

So tall

And I would ponder the smallest things, amazed by their place in the world.

Lone Pinecone

I would sleep. Oh sweet, heavenly, uninterrupted, bed to my self sleep. I hardly remember you.

And if you are nice to me, I’ll share my power with you too.

If you were a super hero, what power would you have?

This post was inspired my Mama Kat’s writing prompts.

I’m with you – to freeze time and go about my business in silence? Yes Please. Oh silence, how I miss thee. Being able to read people’s minds? No thank you. I don’t need to hear what people think of my clothes or my hair or my kids…

Exactly about, who wants to know what everyone thinks of you? It would give me a complex.

Allison, your photos are awesome in this post! I think I’d have to steal your super hero powers. To have a whole day?! Oh, that’s an exciting thought.

Oh I never would have thought of this, but I LOVE it!! (especially the no calories part!!) A whole day to do whatever I want? Wow…I would definitely sleep half of it away :)

While I too, like the other readers, like the idea of being able to revel in the stillness and vastness of a full 24 hours to myself, my super hero power would have to be teleportation. This is especially appealing to me after a year away from family and friends. Oh, how many times have I longed for the ability to zip to my parent’s home for my mom’s lasagna or to my [immediate] family’s home for a cup of coffee on the coop lawn with dear friends or to be able to attend my husband’s grandmother’s funeral– and then just zip right back again to Africa. How that would have changed our year…

Yes. Teleportation would be it.

You know, I actually considered that too. I hate, loath, driving. Especially when it’s for 30 minutes or long. To just zap from place to place would be wonderful.

I like your idea for a superpower. I think I’d want to be able to move wicked fast. Then the tedious daily chores would be done in minutes. Bliss.

That would be wonderful. I wonder if I can have more than one super power?

I think I’ll steal yours because it sounds heavenly!

OH! Calories don’t count!?
Then there are a couple cheesecakes and some giant cookies to add to my list!

Oh, I forgot about cheesecakes and cookies. How I forgot, I have no idea, they are my fave desserts.

I understand why my wife didn’t ask my input on this one. It’s because I’ve thought about this question on a weekly basis (at least) for roughly 25 years and I would have not stopped talking to her about it for weeks.

My formerly sought after super power would be to generate an invincible shield around my body (with a self contained regenerating air supply). This would allow me to jump off of buildings, go deep into the ocean and even into space. Then one of my best “friends” asked me what happens if I get trapped under a rock. I hate him so much.

My new superpower is in fact a hybrid of my wife’s and Kiyah’s which is pretty cool because I don’t know Kiyah and I’ve never told my wife about my desired superpower (for fear of a **sigh** or an eyeroll). I would like the ability to be able to open a dimensional portal. This would allow me to step into a time (but not space) suspended “room” in another dimension. I could decorate it, hang out, throw a party, etc. It would also allow me to re-open the portal and come out where I please, at the same time that I went in. I would never have to use time to sleep again. Also much more storage space.

My first thought was ‘sleep!’ But then i read Kiya’s comment, and I am sold. I want teleportational power please! And not just to transport myself, but to bring people along or make them appear where I am…

14 Allison October 8, 2010 at 11:57 am

I like that too, being able to make people appear. I’ve officially added that to my powers.

WOW, oh how I enjoyed this blog! Nicely done — pass the chocolate and the sleep!!!!

That sounds like a great power to have!

I love this post! I would also like the time-freezing powers… My time would be filled with a big sleep-in, a a nice big brekky made by my hubs, some time laying on the beach (napping and reading), a little shopping, a nice, hot shower and then more lounging around reading or maybe a movie. Oh, there would also be mexican food in there, and choc chip cookies and kettle corn and… stopping there. :) My other desired superpower would be teleportation! I live overseas from my family and would LOVE to sometimes just zoom over for a special wedding, a baby being born, or even just a day to hang out and do nothing!

Also, I’ve been reading your blog a lot in my reader lately and wanted you to know that I love it! I’ve been super strapped for time lately and haven’t been commenting on many blogs but will try to more. Just wanted to let you know I’m digging your posts! :)

Hey Adriel, thank you so much for taking the time to comment today. I love that you would lounge around at the beach in your 24 hours. I never even thought of that. I’m so adding it to my list.
