{virtual} coffee

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on December 21, 2010

It’s Tuesday, just days before Christmas. The excitement is almost too much. I may just burst before the actual day. Something about having kids really gives the holidays that extra glimmer, you know?

If we were having {virtual} coffee today, it would probably be quick, as I know we all have tons to do before this weekend. But just sitting down for 10 minutes is enough. I’m gulping down a huge cup of decaf this morning, filled with peppermint mocha creamer. I don’t know what it is, but the taste of plain coffee just doesn’t taste good to me lately.

I’ll talk quickly, since we have such limited time. This weekend we went to my sister’s house for the first of many Christmas celebrations. The house was filled with 8 adults, 3 kids and one very-soon-to-be-born baby. It was very festive, filled with wonderful food, goodies and of course presents. I think I’d almost rather watch the kiddo open presents than receive any presents for myself. Almost.

Christmas 2010

I love that my son and my niece, a year apart almost to the day, get along like long-lost friends. We get together with everyone every few months, so for them to just pick up where they left off, chasing after each other, is pretty awesome. Some day soon my nephew will get there too. He’s the baby of the bunch {at least for the next few weeks} at just over one years old.

Christmas 2010

On Sunday we celebrated my awesome December birthday. Which consisted of browsing through Sam’s Club and eating all of their tremendous snacks {FYI…Sunday is totally the day to go if you are looking for snacks, the selection is much better than Saturdays}. I also sat on the couch a lot, pigged out on Pizza Hut Cheesy Bites pizza during the Packer game and had a giant slice of cookie cake. Because I love cookies with frosting. This of course was the day after I vowed to stop shoving endless amounts of sugar into my mouth. Whatever, it was my birthday, one of the few days that it’s acceptable to eat a chocolate chip cookie covered with an inch of frosting. Mmmmmmm…can you just taste it? Oh, and please take home a piece, so I don’t eat the entire thing myself.

Our time is almost up, so I’ll turn the table over to you. Have you started celebrating Christmas yet? Do you try to cram it all into one day, visiting various relatives at the same time? Or do you spread it out a little like we do? Have you finished your shopping yet? What are you hoping to get from Santa this year?

I totally agree with you! I am so, so excited for Christmas and it’s all because I can’t wait to see my daugther’s face light up! I feel like magic is about to happen…when she wakes up & sees that Santa really did visit!
