Somehow we managed to miss the excitement of the massive blizzard that it sweeping across the country. Here in Central Wisconsin we are expecting zero inches of snow. Just an hour or so south they are expecting 12″ and beyond that, I don’t even want to know. Although I am slightly envious because a day stuck inside, drinking hot chocolate, snuggling underneath layers upon layers of blankets and making chocolate chip cookies sounds heavenly right about now.
Yes, you read that right. I want a reason to be stuck inside. As is winter isn’t reason enough. Life has been busy and hectic lately, with me pulling the weight of two people as I’ve been playing single mom for the last week. Please, oh please, oh please don’t let the blizzard delay or cancel Hub’s flights home. Please oh please oh please oh please.
Instead of locking ourselves indoors and becoming the hermits I sometimes want to be, we’re exerting our winter energy by doing things other than baking and eating our way through the season {although there is plenty of that going around too}.
We’re doing a little bit of this…
A little bit of that…
Some very strenuous things…
And finally this…
Running and jumping and climbing and waddling like a penguin is just what we do in the dead of winter when there’s no place else to go. We need to burn off those extra baking calories somehow.
I’m sitting here in the glow of my computer screen listening to the chest-aching cough coming from the bedroom down the hall, the bedroom filled with a little boy who has a slight fever {fever was gone this morning yippee!}, a little boy who had fish sticks for dinner {please oh please oh please don’t let this be the stomach flu} I’m thinking that we may just play blizzard tomorrow after all. There’s cookie dough chilling in the fridge and it’s taking every ounce of willpower in my body not to eat it as a 10:00 snack. There are movies waiting to be watched and games to be played. Valentine’s Day crafts to make and snuggles to be snugged. Snow or no snow, that sounds like the perfect day to me. Minus the sick toddler of course, who I’m hoping will magically be better in the morning. Did you hear that snow fairy who grants wishes?
I’m taking part in The Joy of LOVE a month-long photo challenge to capture those you love. Each day has a different theme and today’s was capturing a loved one doing what they do. There’s nothing an almost-three year old does better than play.

hope that little cutie will get well soon!
Keeping my fingers crossed that your husband’s flight isn’t cancelled and then your sick guy feels better in the morning. Playing single mom is never fun! Great photos by the way.
Good for you for resisting the cookie dough and getting your 1st day completed. Sounds like sick kid or not you are on the ball over there. Wanna come play mommy to my kiddos tomorrow for the school cancellation? lol. You sound like more fun. I did buy a new game today though.
How fun. I am taking that class too.
Playing blizzard sounds wonderful! Maybe it will help your little guy feel better.
I hope he feels better soon! Looks like he had fun while it lasted!
Awww he is so cute. We are on our second snow day in a row and our 5th in a month. Too many! Here is wishing you get the “snow” day you want.
And that your little guy feels better.
hope everything works out for yall…
was thinking of taking my son out to get a bit of energy out of him
Those are some great shots. Looks like the kids had fun.
When my husband is absent I also must force myself to take the kids out and do something rather than enjoy the warm house. It’s funny how much it breaks up a long day (and how much time it occupies) when loneliness might have settled in very heavily.
Where are ya’ll playing at? It looks alot like the little gyms that I take grant to every week. So much fun! I hate the cold only because grant gets fussy being inside since he is only 21 months there isnt alot we can do. Any suggestions? LOL!
Thank you for the inspiration. I used your idea – I hope you don’t mind. I linked back, of course. I love your pictures – are you using a filter?
I’d say you and your boy deserve to “play blizzard” (love that). Happy snow day!
Oh, I hope he feels better soon!
Love the pictures you got–the edits are fabulous!
