It’s Sweet Tooth Friday. Have you posted a sweet-inspired recipe this week? Link it up below.
What is there to say about this recipe, but yum? I mean seriously, toffee, chocolate, in a bar? Have I said yum yet?
Now, at first look, this recipe sounds complicated. Because there are multiple layers to this thing. Like six layers all together. But it’s really not that hard. I promise. And I would never lie to you, now would I?
Okay, okay, maybe I would tell you that I love your scarf when really I don’t. But lie to you about food? Never.
To prove my point, here’s a little step by step picture guide. Are you drooling yet?
You just mix, mash and cut flour, sugar and butter until lovely coarse crumbs form. Dump in those chocolate chips!
Press, smooth and bake.
Pour evenly.
Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle…
Bake until the center is set and the edges are golden. Sprinkle one last time. That’s it. All done!
See? Easy. I told you.
There’s no way to describe these bars other than sinfully creamy. Which is a funny way to describe a bar. But they are. That little sweetened condensed milk goes a long, long way.
Yes, I’m drooling. But that’s pretty normal around my house.
Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars
- 2-1/3 cups flour
- 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1-3/4 cup (10 oz) toffee bits
Heat oven to 350º. Spray a 9×13 pan with non-stick spray.
In a large bowl, stir together the flour and brown sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs {a fork works best for cutting}. Add the slightly beaten egg and mix well. Stir in 1-1/2 cups chocolate chips. Set aside 1-1/2 cups of the mixture. Press remaining crumb mixture into the bottom of prepared pan. Bake for 10 minutes.
Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the hot crust and top with 1-1/2 cups toffee bits. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips over the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges start to lightly brown and the center is set.
Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup toffee bits over the bars. Cool completely and cut.

They looks so delicious, yet so easy!
These sound wonderful! I love chocolate chips and toffee. And I still make those pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Hey, it’s still cold, so pumpkin works! I have to cut back, though, so might not be able to make these this time around. (I still have cupcakes and chocolates from V-day.)
There’s never a wrong time of the year for pumpkin cookies! I’m glad you are stilling enjoying them.
Hmmmm, these look delicious! Thanks so much for sharing ~ I know my grands will love these. I appreciate your stopping by and reminding me about this event!
