Sweet Tooth Friday: Mint Infused Plum Tarte Tatin

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on April 28, 2011

Happy Sweet Tooth Friday everyone! I am filling in for my sweet friend Alli this Friday so the pregnant lady can get some things taken care of before her baby arrives. I hope you don’t mind the interruption but I promise to fill your sweet tooth desire with one amazing dessert.

Over at my Kitchen Belleicious site I have been talking non-stop about my passion for baking with fresh summer fruit and today is no exception. Before I go any further let me explain a little more about myself. I am what some would call an OCD cook! I get into these little obsessions with my cooking where I can’t stop baking or cooking with a certain ingredient. Last month it was strawberries and this month it is plums. They are just so darn gorgeous and juicy that I can’t get enough. My husband asked if I needed counseling but I assured him that he must zip it unless he no longer wants dessert anymore! LOL!

All this brings me to my latest and fabulous spring/summer dessert- Mint Infused Plum Tarte Tatin! You can just see the sweet goodness just oozing from the cake the moment you lay eyes on it. The addition of the mint adds a completely different layer to the dish that you wouldn’t normally expect from a sweet tart. I got the idea from one of my favorite refreshments, Mint Julep. Seriously, one bite of this tart and you will think you died and gone to Mint Julep Plum Cake Heaven. Okay, maybe there is no such thing but the flavors and texture of this tart are just simply amazing. Just warning you- -You might not be able to have your cake and eat it too but then who really wants to have a cake to just look at. Seriously, that quote frustrates me sometimes because I don’t know one person who would rather look at a cake instead of eating it! Do you?

Have you ever obsessed over an ingredient before? If so I am so curious to know what it was? Hope ya’ll have a fabulous weekend and thanks for visiting Alli and myself today!

Thanks for inviting me! I will run back and set up a link to your party. Is it a lot more difficult to
have the photos for your linky party. I know Lisa at sweet-as-sugar-cookies started a sweets linky party
and had 86 entries the first week and over a hundred since then. People love sweets but I think it helps to see the picture. (But I don’t know anything about linky parties!) Thanks for hosting.

I think you are right, I’ve been thinking I need to use a thumbnail linky. Thanks for suggesting it.

I linked up some goodies from my blog this week.
As for ingredients, I just bought some vanilla beans online (way cheaper, I had no idea), and I’m working on some new donut recipes. I’m obsessed with donuts.

Where did you buy the vanilla beans? I’ve been dying to get some.

19 Aimee April 29, 2011 at 3:17 pm

Here is the link to the ones I bought, through Amazon. I think with shipping it ended up being about $15? But you get16 whole beans. Way cheaper than going to the grocery store and spending $10 on two beans in the jar! They taste great too (as I am sitting here eating about my 6th donut)!!!

Gorgeous Tarte! I am sharing my recipe for Strawberry Pudding. This recipe is really healthy because it is pureed strawberries with gelatin and a little bit of sugar.
Thanks for hosting!
