In the beginning of my pregnancy coffee was a total turn-off. I just couldn’t stomach it. Of course that didn’t prevent me from drinking it. With a few glubs of creamer I was back in business, drinking a hot cup of slightly sweetened coffee with breakfast. Because waking up without a good cup of coffee just isn’t human. Even if it’s usually decaf. I’m pregnant after all.
Man, do I miss regular coffee.
When I recently discovered that I was out of coffee creamer, I may have panicked. Just a little. What was I going to add to my coffee? I can’t possibly live without my coffee! Also, I’m way to lazy to run to the store to get more.
So what did I do? I made my own. Because apparently that’s easier than driving to the store. I guess.
It turns out that it is super easy to make your own. Since this recipe uses milk as the main ingredient, I can justify adding it to my coffee. It’s not just a flavor enhancer, I’m also getting the calcium that I so badly need during pregnancy.
See? It’s healthy.
Once you have the basic recipe down, it’s really easy to change up the flavors. You can use any flavored syrup that you have in the house. Perhaps a bottle of cookie dough flavored syrup that you begged your husband to buy, two years ago, which is still sitting in the cupboard with only a quarter of it used. Or something like that.

Notes
The sweetened condensed milk recipe makes approximately one can of sweetened condensed milk. It's a great replacement for recipes that call for a can of sweetened condensed milk. It's also good licked off a spoon. Or so I've been told. Flavored coffee creamer can be stored in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.

Wahoo! Thanks for stopping by Ann.
I haven’t even given up caffeine with this pregnancy. Well not completely anyway. I discovered that trying to be pregnant, take care of three other kids under five, and keep my sanity on no caffeine at all was doing more harm than good. Hopefully the baby will only be slightly hyper-active as a result!
PS I’m so coming back next week with a recipe!
I’m slowly adding it back in, the third trimester is kicking my butt and I need a little more pick up than I did before. Oh well.
Can’t wait to see what you are sharing next week!

What great recipes for creamer! It’s so much healthier to make your own anyway. I didn’t give up caffeine with either pregnancy, just cut back a little. I work nights, so it was nearly impossible to stay awake without the stuff. There’s a great collection of recipes here today!
It is healthier! No extra weird ingredients that you can’t pronounce. Enjoy!
Happy Friday Alli! I am sharing my recipe for Coconut Macaroons. This recipe is gluten free, but it can be made using “regular” flour if you don’t have issues with gluten.

Oh yum. I made the chocolate almond creamer today. Seriously, why haven’t I been doing this for years? I didn’t make the homemade sweetened condensed milk, I just used a can of it (I know, cheater).

Hi Ali,
I was just heading over here with a post when the “Blogger Storm” came. Your Coffee Creamer Recipe is so interesting, I did not have a clue how to make that. I will sure try the recipe it looks so good. Thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday and hope to see you next week!
I just tried this yummy!!! I knew about the sweetened condensed milk recipe and this is a great addition!!!! Gotta write this up on my blog yes!!!!!
So I realize I am reading this way after it was first posted, but what made me feel worse was that I had NO idea you could MAKE sweetened condensed milk! I feel very foolish now, but to revive myself dignity I am going to make this and give it as New Year presents. Thanks!
Thank you for the creamer help. Since having unexpected guests my coffee AND my creamer have been horribly abused (I don’t think the female counterpart of my guests has ever really made coffee properly since she puts in more water than the pot can hold as recommended and she also uses too much coffee grounds, lets not get into how much creamer she uses and how the sugar always has BIG clumps in it). And I take my morning cup of sanity seriously. It’s like that like re-vamped 50′s sticker you see says, “I haven’t had my coffee yet. Don’t make me kill you.” My husband says that it fits me perfectly. So, again, thank you for the wonderful tips of making homemade creamer. AND WITH MILK!!! Now, I shall go make myself a good cup. I need to reheat some still good coffee without the use of a microwave since it had a small fire on the inside.
