It’s September. Which means Fall is beginning. I can already feel a comforting coolness in the lazy evenings that follow a busy Summer. With Fall comes apples. And apple picking. And making delicious apple treats. I can just smell the apple pie baking right now.
Along with apples comes caramel, because – HELLO – you can’t have sliced apples without a side of caramel. I think it’s apple law. And it just so happens that it’s National Caramel Month. Well, no, actually it isn’t. I thought it was, but it isn’t until October. But you can get your caramel on early, it’s okay. I won’t tell anyone.
I have a little secret though. Apples and peanut butter are another favorite treat. So, what’s better than apples with caramel? How about peanut butter caramel?
Oh yes. I combined two of my favorite apple sides into one delicious, sticky, sweet and just a little bit salty treat. Get those apple slices ready, but this caramel is waiting to be dipped into.
Don’t keep it waiting. Just don’t. Your apples and your taste buds will be oh so grateful if you make this right away.
Like right now.
Go. Seriously.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce {I love this caramel sauce recipe by the Pioneer Woman if you want to go homemade}
- 2-3 tablespoons hot water
Instructions
- Place ingredients in a glass container with a lid. Shake or mix to combine.
- Pour over your favorite fall apples, top a delicious apple pie, or serve over your favorite ice cream.
- Better yet, make my should-be-world-famous peanut butter bars, where this caramel sauce plays a starring role.
