Sweet Tooth Friday: Rolo Pretzel Bites

Christmas is just days away. Well, weeks really, but it feels like days. Thanksgiving is practically over before it even begins, and then – zoom – we zip right to Christmas. It’s such a fun time of the year. But it’s also overwhelming. All of the travel. All of the stress of finding the perfect gift. The constant baking and eating. And eating.

And eating.

Wait. The baking and the eating is the fun part.

I love giving friends and family gifts of food. It comes straight from my heart. It’s something that I created with a specific person or people in mind. Something I crafted by hand.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes handmade gifts are the best gifts. Which is why, when I can, I always say thank you with food.

This recipe is so simple. It’s so easy. It’s so flippin’ delicious. Really, there’s no reason not to make it.

Rolo Pretzel Bites

In a rare afternoon of sleeping babies and no place to rush off to, the kiddo and I sat in the kitchen, chatting. Little hands were kept busy unwrapping and placing – ever so carefully – little chocolate gems filled with caramel atop crunchy pretzels. We were both happy, living in the moment. Together.

But that’s not the best part. Oh no. The best part was creating the memory together. Perhaps a new holiday tradition, for just the two of us.

That’s what the holidays are about aren’t they? Spending time. Creating memories. Giving thanks. Appreciating those in our lives. Sharing just a little bit of life’s sweetness with one another.

  • Pretzel twists
  • Rolos
  • Mint M&Ms
  • Natural almonds


  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  2. Unwrap rolos. Attempt not to eat any.
  3. Place pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet. Add one rolo on top of each pretzel.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 4 minutes. The rolos will still look like rolos, they won't appear melted, but they are.
  5. Immediately press one mint M&M or almond in the center of each rolo, pressing slightly to flatten.
  6. Let the pretzels harden on the counter or pop the baking sheet into the freezer for 5 minutes.
  7. Enjoy yourself and share with anyone who loves a sweet and salty snack made from the heart.
