Sweet Tooth Friday, Dessert Recipe Linky

by Allison @ Alli 'n Son on August 16, 2012

Welcome to Sweet Tooth Friday, a day devoted to all things sweet. Feel free to drool over today’s featured recipes, link up your own sweet recipes, and visit a few of the other sweet, sweet recipes shared by fellow bloggers.

There I was, having a major dessert craving attack, alone at home with the boys. It was a post-7 mile run kind of craving. The kind that can’t be ignored. The kind that rivals a pregnancy craving.

The kind that can only be satisfied by very specific desserts. Homemade chocolate chip cookies. Fresh out of the oven brownies. Peanut butter cup s’mores bars.

But it had to be homemade, or taste like homemade. Only it was late at night, none of my favorite bakeries were open and I just didn’t feel like baking. Wait, no, I didn’t feel like cleaning up after baking.

But there, stashed in the back of our pantry, was a forgotten bag of mint M&Ms. How I forgot about a bag of M&Ms, I’ll never know.

Dessert was saved! My aching post-run legs were grateful for the sugar rush. And my children were thankful that I didn’t wake them up for a late night cookie run.

Why is it that when I most want a chocolate chip cookie, the only thing that I can find in the house are cupcakes? Sometimes a cupcake just won’t do, you know?

So, I need to do some major baking. Soon. To fill up my sadly empty freezer, which is just about begging for cookies, brownies and all things created to satisfy a chocolate attack.

And on that note, let’s get to this week’s Sweet Tooth Favorites.

S'mores Donuts

I’m not a camper. I like my cozy bed. My toilet. My shower. I love running water. I may even be slightly addicted to it. I simply can not live without it, even for a day or two. I just can’t. And don’t even try to tell me that there are camp sites with showers and toilets and running water. I won’t believe it.

And even if such a thing does exists, it’s still not the same as being at home, with a bathroom and a shower, where I can get clean in (semi)private (there’s no such thing as privacy when you live in a tiny house with four people).

But…if you promised me that after night of camping I could wake up to baked s’mores donuts from Lemons for LuLu, well, you just may be able to convince me to go.

For one night only.

The Top Five

  1. There are few things that I like more than cooking with the kiddo, but I can only convince him to help out with sweets. Huh, I wonder where he gets that from? I think these Chocolate peanut butter krispy treats from I Was Born to Cook would be a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon. Or really, any afternoon.
  2. Oh my, I think that I may have died and gone to dessert heaven. Cheesecake heaven and peanut butter cup heaven where you are greeted with a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake from Lady with the Red Rocker. I can’t think of a better dessert heaven to be in.
  3. Sweet breads make a perfectly acceptable breakfast, right? I sure hope so, because I plan on beginning many, many mornings with this Lemon Loaf by Shugary Sweets.
  4. These Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcakes from Bird on a Cake are just so pretty that I almost don’t want to eat them. But then my chocolate cravings would take over and I’d dive right in, mouth first, because I can’t resist anything chocolate. No matter how hard I try.
  5. I don’t know what I’m more excited about, the homemade dulce de leche or the fact that these Twix Thumbprint Cookies from Hugs and Cookies taste like a candy bar. It’s a toss up really.
