Before I was pregnant for the first time, I was well prepared. The second Hubs and I started thinking about having a baby, I ran out and bought all of the books I deemed necessary for having a healthy pregnancy.

I love babies. For so many reasons, but one of those reasons is their teeny tiny clothes. The impossibly small outfits, hats and socks that you can’t image a human actually fitting in. But they do, for a fleeting moment, because man, babies grow fast.

Happy Nation Waffle Day! Did you know that July 24th is National Waffle Day? It is! Have you celebrated by whipping up your favorite waffles yet? Perhaps some sweetly delicious peanut butter and nutella waffles? Because you should. Waffles are awesome.

The only draw back to waffles is that you always make more than you can eat. At least in our house. Even with three of us wolfing them down on a lazy weekend morning, we still have more than we know what to do with. So in the freezer they go. Hopefully I remember that they are in there before they are totally freezer burned.

So, I was thinking, what else can we do with waffles to use up the leftovers. Thinking, thinking, thinking. And then a light bulb moment. Make a sandwich out of them. Duh.

I don’t know about you, but I get tired of the same old bread for the same old sandwich. I think the kiddo does too. When we made peanut butter boats with pancakes instead of bread, he was over the moon about them. To this day when I make him banana boats, he’s always a little disappointed when they are made with boring old bread.

Peanut butter is by far the favorite sandwich for the kiddo. He would eat them “all day long!”, as he likes to say. Imagine that said in a little boy’s voice. It’s pretty hard to resist. But a close second is the grilled cheese sandwich. Which I also love. Although my tastes are a little fancier than the kiddos are.

So I got to thinking. Waffles are delish on their own, with some syrup or a little powdered sugar. Grilled cheese is pretty amazing on it’s own. What would happen if we combined the two?

Brilliance, that’s what happened.

Sweet. Savory. Cheesy. With a little bit of syrup on the side, just to sweeten things up a little more.

See, I told you, pure brillance.

There’s a secret ingredient though. Apples. Thinly sliced, tart, granny smith apples. Just a little something to grab your taste buds attention.

If you’ve been around here for a while, you must have realized by now that I like to cook and bake. I make as many of our foods and meals from scratch as I can. Which on occasion drives me crazy, because I’m so freaking tired from this pregnancy.

As you may have noticed, I like to take photos. My computer is overflowing with them. A lot of nature and flower photos, which seems to have caught my attention lately. There are like a million photos of the kiddo, and I’m sure a million more once baby boy number two greets us. Plus vacation photos, food photos and just totally random photos.

I have more than I know what to do with, and honestly the majority of them get lost on my computer.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect, I have never ordered a canvas print before. The ordering process was super easy. You begin by picking a canvas size and then uploading your photo. Once you have completed these steps, you can choose the border style you want {there are 3 to pick from} and even pick an optional image effect {black and white or sepia, retouching and more}. That’s it, you’re done!

When my canvas arrived at my door last week, I ripped open the box and couldn’t believe what I saw. The quality of the print was exceptional. The canvas itself seems thick and durable. It actually looks like it could be hanging in a museum. I’m so impressed with it, that I actually have nothing negative to say. Even their pricing, for canvases sized 8×8 all the way up to 30×40, is very reasonable. Especially considering that the quality is top notch.
